Travel & Tour Guide Maroko. Morocco is an ideal point of depature for travel throughout Africa.  A stone´s throw from Europe, it is a friendly and stimulating melting pot of cultures with lots to see and do.   Outdoor markets filled with Berber rugs, wood sculptures, and jewelry.  The principle commodity of Morocco is leather, the finest in the world.
MerzougaOver the years Morocco has developed a rich mosaic of artistic traditions.  The thread that ties them together is music, a combination of the classical style that emerged in Spain and the oral musical traditions of the native Berbers,  fused with contemporary African and French music. Although often identified with Algeria, RAI is the common form of music in Moroccan cities.  In spite of its Arabo-African rythmns (owing much to Bedouin music), Moroccan music uses multiple electric instruments to create a hypnotic effect.
Artisanry is important in Morocco.  Moroccan leather goods (maroquinerie) have been a popular commercial export throughout the world since the 16th century.  The production of Berber rugs, ceramics, jewelry, and wooden sculptures are equally rich.
Colorful mosaic painted and carved wooden panels are still frequently used to decorate the interiors of mosques and wealthy homes, as well as Moucharabieh, screens that permit muslim women to practice religion in the streets without being seen.
Spoken Moroccan Arabic (Darija) is considerably different from the Arabic spoken in the East.   The Berbers speak many different dialects in the countryside as well, and especially in the mountains.
Moroccan cuisine is tasty and hardy without being too hot or spicy.  The national dish is couscous, semolina accompanied by lamb or other meat or poultry and vegetables.  Mint tea is the Moroccan drink par excellence.   Alcohol is not generally forbidden.(Tourmorocc/wisatamaroko).
